Leading Field Service Management Software Company Totalmobile Announces Strategic Acquisition of TBS to Strengthen Market Share and Product Capability

5th February 2019 – Belfast-based Totalmobile, a leading innovator in Field Service Management (FSM) and Mobile Workforce Software Solutions, has today announced the strategic acquisition of Technological Business Solutions (TBS), which will add significant scale, new market verticals and new and improved products into the Totalmobile Group.

Following a transformational year in 2018 (which saw revenues grow in excess of 20%, software sales increase by over 30% year on year and the company return to profitability following its transition to a software as a service (SaaS) business model), Totalmobile has acquired 100% of Derby-based TBS – a FSM specialist similar to Totalmobile but with significant reach in the Facilities Management Industry and strong IoT capability.

TBS’ FSM and IoT technology is deployed in some of the UK’s largest and most complex organisations and will complement Totalmobile’s core proposition whilst adding a commercially proven range of IoT software solutions to the Group’s product suite. This will enable customers to minimise the reliance on paperwork and help workforces deliver better services to end-users, whilst ensuring compliance assurance and visibility.

The new Totalmobile Group will service some 250 organisations across a broad range of sectors including Healthcare, Utilities, Construction/Infrastructure, Local Government and Facilities Management.  The Group’s comprehensive suite of digital, mobile software solutions will enable organisations to leverage operational and financial benefits by enhancing mobile worker capacity, delivering operational cost reductions, improving the consistency of customer service, and enhancing compliance assurance and reporting.  

This exciting acquisition for the Totalmobile Group (which remains strongly backed and supported by leading technology-private equity firm Horizon Capital), come on the back of the recently signed strategic partnership between Servelec and Totalmobile, and the recent news of Totalmobile’s investment in a new Infrastructure Division.  Servelec, the UK’s leading provider of health and social care software will work strategically with Totalmobile to enable the delivery of mobile workforce efficiencies into their extensive health-sector customer base, whilst the new Infrastructure Division will focus on deploying Totalmobile’s Mobilise, Optimise and Analyse products (and now TBS’ IoT capability) into the Utilities and Infrastructure sectors.

In the expanded Totalmobile Group, Jon Poynton of TBS will join the Group Management Board as MD TBS, and will be supported by Steve Reynolds, his co-founder.

TBS Announce Partnership with CogniPoint™ by PointGrab

TBS, the digital transformation and workforce management experts, has announced it is an official channel partner of CogniPointTM, the sensing technology created by Israel-based PointGrab.

CogniPointTM is a sensor which provides, in real time, building footfall, occupancy and dwell time, driving actionable insights around occupant behaviour and how and when workspace is being used.

This in turn can be used in building/asset management and helps implement efficiencies and optimise the use of space. By using CogniPointTM and Technology developed by Pointgrab, customers can save up to 30% of their workspace and rent expenses.

CogniPoint is easily installed and can be operated and managed through TaskMaster, TBS’s adaptive workforce management platform providing actionable insight the data gathered by the sensors, including presence, people count and locations, is sent data back into TaskMaster, allowing users to monitor and control space. 

PointGrab’s technology makes it easy for workers to share and find workspace and colleagues, fostering greater collaboration and productivity. CogniPointTM also allows users to optimize allocation of physical resources such as workstations, meeting rooms, lighting, HVAC and more, leading to significant cost-savings and improved efficiency.

Each sensor can cover up to 48 sqm, and can also monitor and report on individual spaces within its overall designed area, such as where hotdesking is used. Multiple sensors can also stitch together data to cover wider areas.

iLINKS Innovations

At the annual iLINKS Innovations Conference, Samsung and TBS delivered an informative presentation on Smart Healthcare; exploring the challenges faced by the NHS and identifying how enabling technologies can be used to provide transformational change.

The session opened by detailing the challenges in the healthcare sector, with an emphasis on doing more with less and continually looking for ways of improving services provided by hospitals, doctor’s surgeries, care homes, domiciliary care, ambulance services and tele care services etc. This can be achieved by enhancing the patients’ experience and empowering the healthcare workforce. In the majority of cases, everything that can be done has been done and so it is a major challenge, and as a result any transformational change can only be achieved with the introduction of digital enabling technologies.

The session highlighted that over the last couple of years the implementation of technology in many sectors have:

  • Enabled new business models
  • Developed intuitive and disruptive new ways of working
  • Empowered the workforce and improved the workplace

The session went on to highlight the potential impact the following key digital enabling technologies could have in healthcare.

Conversation as a Service (AI)

This has the potential to transform the way we request help and services. Since this technology is now very capable, we will see a range of voice and messaging based business applications being developed over the short to medium term. From requesting assistance to making an appointment, conversation based services will provide user-friendly service that will:

  • Save time and money – with no requirement for user training
  • Improve operational efficiencies – with no human interaction required
  • Improve patient experience

With insight into these enabling technologies, and an understanding on how they are being used in healthcare, the audience were encouraged to participate in an ideation session; to uncover unique ways as to how these technologies could be used. The audience delivered some inspirational ideas, including:

  • The introduction of a nationwide mobile NHS App that would provide healthcare professionals (HCP) with vital access to information on the person’s health, by use of NFC technology; to ensure the appropriate care is administered. The first HCP would simply tap their device on the patient’s mobile phone to receive key information on the patient.
  • The implementation of wireless sensors on asthma inhalers to monitor the patients’ usage patterns and vital signs to optimise doctor visits and detect anomalies to improve care.
  • Using wireless sensors to provide the remote administration and monitoring of chemotherapy treatment for those cancer patients who live in remote locations with no local facilities. This would allow self-administration of the drugs with the control and monitoring being undertaken remotely by clinicians who can monitor the process and patient’s vital signs.
  • The enhancement of a way finding system in hospitals, which would use internal Wi-Fi Network and locations based algorithms to locate their exact position, via the visitors or patients’ Smartphones; to provide a visual system like satellite navigation to guide them to their target location in the hospital. The system could be extended further to include alerts when the patient leaves home so the hospital knows they are on their way.
  • The introduction of an auto-translation voice service, using AI services, such as Chatbot and Voice Recognition. This would remove any language barriers faced by non-English speakers, by automatically translating in real time, allowing the patient to describe their symptoms in their own language and be translated accordingly for the health care professional.
  • The wireless connection of sensors and artificial intelligence within the homes of those suffering from mental health issues to promote independent living, whilst alerting care providers of out of routine events, such as are they not getting out of bed, when they leave their home, when they return, voice activated reminders to take medication and wearables to monitor their emotional wellbeing.

With the success of the session, Samsung and TBS will be running exclusive Healthcare Innovation Workshops with Industry Providers; enabling these organisations to identify areas of their business that could benefit from deployment of technology.

TBS encourage inspirational change at the Empowering People with Technology Symposium

TBS encouraged inspirational change last week at the Empowering People with Technology Symposium 2016.

In conjunction with key partners Mitie and Samsung, TBS brought together a line-up of elite industry experts who examined the opportunities that mobile, wearable, IoT and cloud based technologies posed to business.

Held at the Kings Place in London, the packed auditorium were provided with a glimpse into the pioneering journey that Mitie has embarked upon with TBS and Samsung.

With an impressive exhibition zone for attendees to get hands on with the innovation from the joint hosts, informative keynotes from Quocirca and Wired Magazine, real life working examples from Mitie and a thought-provoking panellist session, attendees gained insights into a wide range of topics including the effect consumerisation of technology is having on business, how new wave data and mobile technology is encouraging new ways of working and how technology will influence the business of the future.

The half day symposium presented a refreshing approach for businesses to adopt new technology in an agile and cost effective way whilst staying one step ahead of the game.

CD Fleet Services Drivers Now “Fully Connected” with TaskMaster

CD Auctions Fleet Services equips its in-house transport drivers with 4G android based smartphones and TBS TaskMaster to improve collection and delivery services to its rapidly expanding customer base.

Reporting on, it was confirmed that the TBS TaskMaster software, operated through the smartphones, will offer a wide range of benefits to CD Fleet Services customers including estimated time of delivery or collection, email confirmation of vehicle release and vehicle condition reports. Andy Brown, CD Auction Group managing director, said: “The CD Fleet Services transport division has expanded rapidly in the last couple of years and we are now doing twice as many vehicle movements as we were two years ago.

“These new handheld devices, which are fully 4G-connected, will enable us to automate our data capture in this busy area and offer a seamless, online experience to our customers.

“The integrated GPS satellite navigation means our drivers can send an ETA to a customer – no more sitting around wondering when the collection or delivery is going to happen. The navigation facility also allows better route planning when new jobs are booked.

“Once on site, our drivers can confirm and record the condition of the vehicle electronically and then email all that documentation straight to the customer.”
